How about posting a recipe. It's all well and good to go on about a dish when the rest of us can't evaluate because we have no recipe to try.

hi anthony... I saw the snap of the dried/smoked beef in akhoni.I do not have any formal education in cuisine but being in the army am exposed to multi cuisine on a very humble scale. We have our own warrior class preparations which i am sure you will like.I stayed 4 years in nagaland and assam and am in luv wid the food. i am posted presently to jhansi but i do have raja mircha, baans tenga, fermented n dried fish etc withwhich we(THE NORTH EAST OFFICERS ) make some boar at my place now n then. other day i decided to make some akhuni but am not very sure after the boiling part. could you give me step by step detailed instructions how to prepare class pungent akhuni. regards, Lieutenant Colonel S Philip.

@Kavita: Well, preparing it the manipuri way is a very spacialised skill, since we use a special leaf to cover the soya after boiling it so that it is fermented and not rot. Fermenting is anaerobic decomposition I believe, and you will need air tight containers and stuff.. I wouldn't actually know how to do it. We buy this stuff from Brahmin Cooks who specialise in preparing the same.

@ Anon: You might have to find out in google. But it should be available in every asian food store or asian food section of a store. This is quite a common asian food.

Anthony,
are u aware of the sexual harrasment of a northeast( mizo) girl from the faculty of law , delhi university? the incident happened on friday 22/september/2006 at the arts faculty compound, university of delhi.

we know u are a blogger from manipur and will do ur bit to raise as much awareness as u can on this issue. there is an active group (friends of the culprit) that is trying to put the entire matter under wraps. we need as much help as we can get from all quaters.
